In 2025 Summit School District was introducing important changes to the curriculum and needed new materials to connect and communicate with students. SSD commissioned studiotrope to create a revamped digital course catalog for Summit High School, a printed student/family workbook, and a digital brand guide to collect information and assets in a central location when they were previously scattered in the SSD file structure.
We began by spending a full day at Summit High School interviewing high schoolers, gathering their feedback on the functionality they wanted in the new materials along with the aesthetic direction that resonated with them. We shared our insights with the District team, balanced the insights with the practical and conceptual requirements of each deliverable, and maintained a collaborative partnership with the team – helping them refine their in-progress ideas into solid direction. The theme of navigation became a driving force, based on SSD’s new tagline “Trailblazers of Tomorrow.”
The result was a deliverable set of three documents, each building on the existing District brand while introducing new design elements and bringing value to students, families, and staff. Each deliverable was designed to be accessible and compliant with WCAG AA, and each was provided
as a user-friendly template so SSD’s designers could update them over time.
