The Gunnison Valley Library District currently has two branches: Old Town in historic Crested Butte and a flagship in Gunnison. Adding a new branch in the community of Crested Butte South offers an opportunity to create a third experience unlike what is currently offered at the existing branches. The hope is to attract residents from the entire valley to come together and build on their unique identity by connecting, discovering, and imagining together. The term "Rooted Resonance" evokes a poetic and emotional sense of deep connection to place and is the driving VOICE for the project.
• Rooted: Suggests being firmly grounded, embedded, or connected to a specific place – physically, culturally, or emotionally.
• Resonance: Implies that the place “echoes” something meaningful inside you – its sights, sounds, or spirit feel aligned with your identity or emotions.
Together, Rooted Resonance expresses the feeling that:
"This place speaks to me, and I belong here in a way that feels deep and natural."
It's a beautiful phrase for describing the sense of harmony between self and setting. When visitors from the Valley spend time at this new branch they will feel quintessentially where they are: a place they chose to be, a place where they can play, work, and be together.
