Joseph Montalbano

Principal Architect

Joseph received his undergraduate degree in architecture from the University of Illinois (Champaign-Urbana) and completed his graduate studies at Arizona State University in 1994. He spent 1990-1991 traveling through Europe studying the architectural history and building theories of various cultures. It was through this study that Joseph developed his passion for critical regionalism – the approach to architecture that strives to counter placelessness by cherishing contextual forces while simultaneously remaining critical of site, context, program, and even the users of a project.

Joseph is a founding partner of studiotrope and has been a licensed architect in the State of Colorado since 1996.
